Casa Xelajú (shay-la-Hoo') is a socially-responsible educational institute in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala promoting cross-cultural understanding through its Spanish, Quiche languages, and cultural programs, social projects, internships, volunteer work, and travel services.

Our school offers acomplete Spanish ImmersionProgram, as well as courses in K'iche' language, Spanish for Educators and Health Care Professionals and Spanish Literature classes. As a fully accredited Spanish as second language teaching institution in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala, we offer courses and internships designed to earn college or university credits during a semester abroad in Guatemala and a special high school program.

Our Spanish Language Immersion program is by far the most popular program we offer; it includes one on one Spanish classes, weekend tours, residence with a local family, daily cultural activities and volunteer opportunities all in one package.

The school also has a library of Spanish and English language books, videos, and DVDs to support our full immersion learning programs. We can place you with a family, where you will live close to the Guatemalan spirit, or we can suggest hotels and other housing options here in Quetzaltenango. We have tours to many wonderful places in Guatemala and seasoned multi-lingual guides to assure a great experience for you. We also have many opportunities for placing you as a volunteer in Guatemala, or as an intern through our Guatemalan office for a great experience and possible credit toward your college education. We also publish our own Voces Newsletter with articles written by staff and students.

With all of these possibilities, our website is large, with sections dedicated to each service. Feel free to use the pull-down menu at the top of each page to navigate our website, or use our Search page to search for specific information within our website.
You can also Contact Us if you have further questions.

Thanks for choosing Casa Xelajú de Español!
