Champerico

Champerico

This small beach town used to be the largest port in the country. After the end of the railroad through the coastal region of the south, the port was moved to "Puerto San José". Now the town of Champerico is a popular weekend trip for Guatemalans as well as some foreigners. The climate is always hot and humid.

The recommended hotel is the "Hotel Miramar" two blocks from the beach with excellent Paella.
