SHELTERED INSTRUCTION OBSERVATION PROTOCOL

Casa Xelaju Spanish program has successfully integrated the use of the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol, better known as a SIOP, as a part of our teaching methodology for Spanish as a second language. The use of SIOP in our Spanish program will improve the academic achievement and accelerate how our students learn Spanish as a second language.
The use of SIOP in the Bilingual, Dual Language Immersion and Spanish Immersion programs in Quebec and Canada and the United States of America has widely demostrated the advantages of this program in second language adquisition.
Our teachers have been trained through professional development in Guatemala on how impliment SIOP´s eight components of effective instruction in their lesson planning with our students from other countries.
