You may take classes for a minimum of 5 hours per week, although it doesn't need to be one hour daily.

The instructors make Spanish acquisition fun and practical and base their instruction around the different learning styles and needs that the students bring with them. Our teachers have been trained to teach using the most current methodologies in the teaching and education of a second language. Our Whole Language methodology immerses students in the second language acquisition without the common trend of memorization of grammar rules. Language acquisition is the way we acquire our first language from our parents, relatives, and friends when we are young. Besides that, they have the patience and ability to work with the students' needs no matter what your level of Spanish is, from beginner to advanced.

The teachers have a wide range of topics to discuss from politics to culture, from business to friendship and different teachers have different areas of specialization and knowledge basis. In no time, you will be having in depth conversations with your instructor, in Spanish, at levels you never thought possible.

Casa Xelajú has been in business in Quetzaltenango, Guatemala for over 19 years. Our teachers, most of whom have been teaching Spanish as a second language here for the past 18 years, are all highly esteemed and fully accredited by the Guatemalan Secretary of Education. All of our teachers studied Spanish Instruction as a Second Language in a University and every couple of months the teachers attend workshops so as to better their abilities to educate and communicate to the students.
